Chambers & Partners High Net Worth 2020 – fantastic rankings for FLiP.

Family Law in Partnership is proud to announce the firm’s continued success as top family lawyers ranked in the latest edition of Chambers High Net Worth, published July 2020.

Directors Elizabeth Hicks, Bradley WilliamsDavid Allison and James Pirrie together with consultants Pamela Collis and Gillian Bishop are all named in the Chambers’ rankings of leading family lawyers for high net worth individuals. And having included a ranking of leading family mediators for the first time this year, Chambers HNW ranks our Head of Mediation Dominic Raeside, along with James Pirrie and Gillian Bishop as spotlight, leading family mediators.

The Chambers HNW 2020 rankings emphasised the strength and depth of expertise offered by FLiP to our HNW and UHNW clients. Highlighting FLiP as a firm where everyone is “responsive, sensible, human and a joy to work with,” Chambers HNW commented on the distinctive approach of our lawyers: “it is a very holistic team and therefore has a refreshing take on couples’ disputes.”

Chambers highlighted seven of the FLiP team as notable practitioners for HNW and UHNW clients. The commentary from Chambers HNW is set out below:

Bradley Williams “I would send my relatives to him if they needed family law help,” says a market insider, adding: “He is very, very intelligent, always sees the bigger picture, fights cases that need to be fought but gets the best result for the client by settling them where they have to be. He just really knows what is in his client’s best interests and keeps them on board. He is a very skilled lawyer.”

David Allison‘s family law expertise spans financial applications on divorce, cohabitation agreements and civil partnerships. He is “everything you would want as a client,” says one of his peers. Another source says he is “strategically and tactically a force to be reckoned with,” adding that “he delivers excellence in family law. He is all about client service delivery, and he wants family law in the UK to be the best thing ever. He wants this country to succeed in that sphere, and we need people like that.”

“Exceptional mediator”  Dominic Raeside is “very sought after” for family mediations. A source says he has “real gravitas on children matters” and “clients have faith in him.” Another interviewee, who has seen Raeside’s work, says: “He helped the parents understand how to make things easier and better for the child. I thought he did it with great skill.”

The “very personable”  Elizabeth Hicks joined FLiP in October 2020, having previously run the family asset protection practice at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner. Hicks is an experienced family practitioner who is well versed in advising affluent clients. A market commentator says she is “doing some incredibly impressive cases of very high value.” A fellow family lawyer says she is “the first one to bring the voice of common sense to a situation, but will fight for her clients when needed,” adding that she is “doing exceptionally well.”

Gillian Bishop is “a very good representation of the modern, friendly ethos that I think of when I think about FLiP,” says a peer. Bishop is an experienced family lawyer with a strong background in both litigation and mediation. Market insiders who consult Bishop “find her to be constructive and helpful” and say she is “leading the way” when it comes to collaborative law and mediation.

James Pirrie is an acclaimed family law specialist who is an accomplished litigator and mediator. One market commentator says: “With his mind like a razor, he will see through to what the next sensible step to take is. He will enable people to see that they are in control of their lives; he is very facilitative.”

Pamela Collis handles international and domestic family cases, with particular expertise in marital agreements and the financial component of divorces. A source who dealt with Collis in a recent matter describes her as “a breath of fresh air” and commends her ability to “defuse what could have been highly contentious proceedings.”
