Vanessa Sampaio

Vanessa advises on all aspects of family law including the division of finances on the breakdown of marriage/civil partnerships, and the preparation of pre and post nuptial agreements. She also advises in respect of matters under TOLATA 1996 and under Schedule 1 of the Children Act.

In respect of children matters, Vanessa also has broad experience in advising on child arrangements, specific issue applications and internal relocation applications.

Vanessa understands the delicate and sensitive positions that clients find themselves in. She prioritises her clients’ objectives whilst providing them with pragmatic advice to assist them in achieving the best outcome for themselves and their children. Vanessa offers a considered approach to resolving her cases as constructively as possible, but nonetheless takes a strategic view when it comes to litigation.

Vanessa is ranked as a Recommended Lawyer for family law in the 2023 and 2024 editions of the leading directory, Legal 500 UK.

Some of Vanessa’s work to date has included:

• Representing a client on a complex children matter involving applications to vary a child arrangements order, and a specific issue application in relation to the child’s schooling
• Representing a client in relation to a specific issue application related to vaccinating the child
• Successfully obtaining a freezing injunction to avoid the dissipation of assets
• Representing a client on a financial remedies application involving valuable farm land with assets worth £15m
• Representing a client during hybrid mediation.

Vanessa trained and qualified as a solicitor at Hanne & Co. before moving to Family Law in Partnership in 2019. Vanessa studied Law at Queen Mary University of London where she achieved a First Class degree.

Vanessa is a member of Resolution’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee. She has had articles published for Resolution, in the Solicitor’s Journal and Clapham Omnibus.
