We are delighted to announce that director James Pirrie has been re-elected to the board of the 6,000 strong national family law association, Resolution. With incoming chair Nigel Shepherd, James is now the longest serving member of the Resolution board having been first elected in 1990.
James’ aims for his next term of office on the board of Resolution include updating the Resolution Code of Practice, expanding the Resolution membership to incorporate more fully financial professionals and mental health professionals within the organisation and helping members to help parents to bring their children’s interests more fully within the divorce and separation process. James led a presentation on the Voice of the Child at Resolution’s 28th Annual Conference which took place in Newcastle last weekend. In the past James led the introduction of Resolution’s “Parenting after Parting” initiative which looks to bring the children involved in a divorce or separation centre-stage.
James is recognised throughout the country for his leadership in alternative dispute resolution. He was one of the first family lawyers to train as a family arbitrator in financial issues, one of the first to train in children issues and is a member of FamilyArbitrator. James is a Law Society accredited mediator, having qualified in 1989, and is also qualified in the commercial model of mediation and direct child consultation. He was instrumental to introducing collaborative law to Europe and was the first non-American director of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
